It is a popular name for French television that invited itself to Saverne this Saturday, May 3. Pascal Soetens, more generally called “Pascal the big brother”, came for the first time in the Cité des Rohan. A new step for him in his operation of awareness of road safety, which he has been carrying out throughout France since 2018. A new vocation, years after having made himself known on the small screen through programs where he helped adolescents in difficulty.
So, necessarily, his arrival in Alsace did not fail to attract the attention of the public, invited to present himself, without registration beforehand, to the driving school Jérem’Conduite, partner of the day of the initiative. Thirty people, mainly young people, answered the call, with a view, of course, to “see Pascal”, and to chain selfies with the famous educator.
Selfies, but above all prevention
But beyond the friendly meeting, the objective was above all, for “the big brother”, to warn his assistance of the importance of having responsible behavior behind the wheel. Especially among those who have just obtained their driving license. “From the age of 18, we must make them understand that we do not drink before hitting the road,” he insists. Same speech concerning the drugs, moreover.
And nothing like a situation for the message to pass. Under the beautiful radiant sun on the Place du Général-de-Gaulle, the participants were entitled to a course strewn with pitfalls, during which they had to carry out various gestures and maneuvers under the influence of glasses moderating the effects of the drink and the psychotropic drugs. Not an easy task … “With those imitating the drug, I saw three chairs instead of two”, laughs this volunteer, under the eye of two gendarmes of the motorized peloton of Schwindratzheim framing the device.
“It’s always nice to talk about road safety. And then, Pascal conveys a positive image ”, is satisfied Jérémy Tison, manager of Jérem’Conduite. A moment of good humor and prolonged prevention the same evening, on the side of the Old School Family bar, in Sarrebourg, where Pascal Soetens won a 73e Driving license training. For this, the chosen candidate had to be entirely sober during the draw. Hence the game slogan, “If you have drunk, you lost”. A message that the star host hopes to see daily applied.
