During his police custody, “the suspect admitted to being the only author of the facts” and was indicted by an investigating judge of the head of “murder by a person being spouse of the victim and then placed in pre -trial detention”, writes the magistrate.

The spouses lived separately and “no complaints for violence within the couple had been reported before these facts. The couple was so far unknown to the police or gendarmerie services and was not the subject of any particular follow -up,” said François Touret de Coucy.
