If you use WhatsApp regularly, you have certainly noticed this mysterious little blue round, bottom right of your screen. He appeared a few weeks ago on the messaging application, but also on Instagram and Messenger. This is the new artificial intelligence feature of the Meta group. Nicknamed «Meta ai»this little tablet is actually a conversational robot with which you can discuss. The answers are generated thanks to Llama, the Meta IA language model.

If Meta AI has existed on American phones since 2023, this tool is being deployed in Europe and in 21 European overseas territories since March 20. The objective, competing with the famous chatgpt, designed by Openai or the cat of Mistral AI. According to Mark Zuckerberg, almost a billion Internet users interact with Meta AI on existing group platforms, namely Facebook, Instagram, Threads and Whatsapp.

It is thus possible to question Meta Ai on a subject, to ask him for culinary advice or the forecast of his next vacation. As the interactions progresses, Meta Ai is enriched and if you give him authorization, the AI ​​can even go and seek elements on your Facebook and Instagram accounts. Tuesday evening, Meta announced the creation of an application only dedicated to its conversational tool, distinct from its social networks.

For the time being, it is not yet possible to remove the presence of Meta Ai on Whatsapp, Messenger, Threads or Instagram. On April 23, the META group confirmed to the BBC that it did not offer an option to deactivate or permanently delete Meta AI. The blue circle is thus directly integrated into the software, without the user being able to remove it. However, it can minimize its visibility, for example by deleting a conversation launched by mistake with the conversational robot or by never clicking on the icon, to prevent its activation.
