The State Department indicated in a press release that it has notified the congress of this sale worth $ 310.5 million and which includes “training of staff linked to operating and maintenance” of F-16 planes, spare parts and ground handling equipment and others, according to a press release.

This transaction will in particular ensure the training of pilots and “increase interoperability” of the Ukrainian armed forces with those of the United States, writes the United States Department of State.

This sale, which will be paid by Kyïv, comes two days after signing the agreement between the United States and Ukraine for the exploitation of the Ukrainian subsoil and the reconstruction of the country.

Warming relations after the repeated criticism of Donald Trump vis-à-vis tens of billions of US military aid to Ukraine approved under the mandate of his predecessor Joe Biden.

Ukraine had received its first F-16 from its Western allies last August, after two years of pressure from Kyïv.

In mid-April and for the second time for this type of device, a Ukrainian F-16 driver was killed in battle.

Ukraine received other copies of F-16 in March, American design devices, according to its president Volodymyr Zelensky.

His army employs them in particular to destroy the Russian missiles launched constantly on Ukrainian territory since the start of the invasion in 2022.
