The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) confirms that the emergency services were called around 5:30 am to intervene at the scene of a collision between two vehicles – a minibus and a SUV – on the Notre -Dame rank (route 209).
“The minibus was circulating in southern direction and for a still unknown reason he would have deviated from his way to collide with a vehicle that came in the opposite direction,” said Camille Savoie, spokesperson for the SQ on Wednesday morning.
The victim took place in the minibus. The latter was carrying workers.
The SQ adds that seven other people taking place in the minibus, all foreign workers, were transported in a hospital center to treat injuries. We would fear for the life of two of them.
The person who took place aboard the SUV underwent minor injuries.
-A reconstructionist of the Sûreté du Québec and the investigators are on the scene to establish the causes and circumstances of the collision.
“The weather conditions may have played a role,” said Savoie agent adding that certain road portions were frozen on Wednesday morning in this Montérégie sector.
The portion of the Notre-Dame rank (route 209) where the accident took place is completely closed to traffic for an indefinite period.
Note that the deadline to change its winter tires for summer tires is March 15, but CAA-Québec recommends waiting for it to be 7 degrees or more during the day.
“With winter tires, there is no danger in keeping them longer and using them prematurely as long as the temperature does not reach 20 degrees regularly,” said Jesse Caron, spokesperson for Caa-Québec.
