Uppsala: Triple murder in Sweden: a suspect placed in pre -trial detention

A Swedish prosecutor announced on Sunday that he requested the placement in pre -trial detention of a man suspected of murder in the investigation into the death of three people on Tuesday in Sweden. He ordered the release of three other people.

“The person whose pre -trial detention is requested today for three murders is a man in his twenties who had been in police custody,” said prosecutor Andreas Nyberg in a statement. The date of the hearing on her detention is not yet known.

Three young people aged 15 to 20 were killed late Tuesday afternoon in a hairdressing salon in the university city of Uppsala, located about sixty kilometers north of Stockholm, arousing amazement in Sweden.

Three men who were in police custody for incentive of murder were released, but remain targeted by the investigation, said the prosecutor. Another person, a man in his twenties, was arrested on Saturday for suspicion of complicity in murder, he added.

In total, three people are still heard by investigators, added Mr. Nyberg.

According to Swedish media, at least one of the victims had links with organized crime, which the police have not confirmed.

Sweden has been trying to stem a wave of shootings and attacks with the artisanal explosive carried out by rival gangs for several years, especially for control of drug trafficking.

Uppsala has long been the basis of the two most famous rival gang leaders in Sweden, Ismail Abdo and Rawa Majid, but the two men are suspected of now orchestrating their operations from abroad.

Uppsala is experiencing a wave of violence “since 2023 after the murder of the mother of Ismail Abdo”, in a vendetta linked to the conflict between his gang, Rumba, to that of Rawa Majid, Foxtrot, said the prosecution on Tuesday.
