The men of Matthieu Fournier won 15-7, this Saturday, May 3 against Reims, for the first leg of the “5-6” classification match.

Admittedly, the stake was not exceptional with this first leg match for fifth place. But for their last performance of the season in their basin, the Sétois have honored their colors.

Serious, applied and collectively well in place, they quickly imposed their law. Vix’s goal after a few seconds was the only one who was going to allow the Rémois to be in front of the scoring in this match. Behind, the locals were breaking on a penalty from Do Carmo (3-1), Tomic and Sauton taking care of keeping the gap (5-3).

A decisive defense

Sète defended, caused the losses of bullets and shots on the posts. And on the other side of the basin, found gaps with Lopinot which ended up at close range then Paul Garcia who marked from afar (7-3).

After a new Rossi stop, Lasseron then highlighted with a pretty lob, then serving perfectly Sauton: 10-4.

The difference was made at halftime, but the Sétoise defense did not release the pressure. The Rémois were unable to find the slightest solution and had to be satisfied with a third quarter without the slightest scored goal, while Sauton and Paul Garcia died the gap (12-4).

The match ended on the same gap (15-7), giving a good advantage to the Sétois for the return match, scheduled for May 17 in Reims. Fifth place reaches their arms to them.
