Over 12,000 visitors to the 8th Fête de la Tête de Moine

The 8th Fête de la Tête de Moine, which was held on Saturday and Sunday in Bellelay in the Bernese Jura, attracted more than 12,000 visitors. The event, which this year had as a theme “Our landscapes” this year, was brightened up by numerous concerts, tastings and films.

(Keystone-ATS) The party began on Saturday in the presence of the federal councilor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider and Markus Ritter, national councilor and president of the Swiss peasants Union, the organizers said on Sunday in a statement. Emmentaler AOP was the guest of honor for this edition.

The Jurassian, also godmother of the party, underlined the importance of local products as pillars of our cultural and gastronomic identity, while the Saint-Gallois highlighted the crucial role of protected names in the maintenance of strong and durable Swiss agriculture.

After the official part, the public was able to feast on. About fifty chalets offered local products. Jacques Gygax, the president of the Moine head interprofession, recalled a remarkable 2024 year with a production exceeding 3000 tonnes for the fourth consecutive year.
