“Beautiful race, beautiful roads, beautiful weather …” Former winner of the Tour de France and future retiree from the pelotons, Geraint Thomas (Team Ineos) is full of praise on the Tour de Romandie. The Welshman won the Swiss event in 2021 and he wanted to compete this week, one last time, ranking almost eight minutes from the winner, João Almeida (UAE-Team Emirates).
“It is indeed a great race, abounds in the same sense French Benoît Cosnefroy (Decathlon-Ag2r), ex-world champion under 23 years. The Tour de Romandie is at the crossroads of the seasons. We meet both runners in full swing, who come back from internship at altitude and prepare the Giro, and others who come out of the classics, tired. It is a high level race but which remains open. In addition, the atmosphere is very nice. We are entitled to a quality hotel and excellent roads. We run here without stress! “
