Max Verstappen confided after finishing 17th in the Miami Sprint Grand Prix following a 10 -second penalty for a return to the dangerous pitlane track after its stand.
The Dutchman hung Kimi Antonelli, the Mercedes F1 driver trying to dodge the Red Bull and missing his own stop in the case. A very clear team error
“There have been different incidents this year in the stands on our side but we cannot compare things,” said Verstappen about his team’s mistakes in the stands.
“We do not want it to happen, but it happened. We have to investigate, but I’m glad that nobody is injured. With these cars, hitting someone is not terrible.”
“What happened is very clear, so I don’t have much to add. The penalty is deserved even if I lose 4th place and the points that went with it.”
Verstappen also deliberately placed its front tires on the white line of the starting grid from the sprint.
“Yes, at the limit!” he smiles.
Christian Horner, its director, had little to add.
“It was a human error. We will learn from it,” concludes the Briton who again had to face the manager of Max, Raymond Vermeulen, furious after this new error of Red Bull in the stands.
