Guest of the show in truth on Radio Senegal, the deputy not registered Tafsir Thioye firmly opposed the decision of certain parliamentarians to boycott the current question session scheduled for the National Assembly on Monday, in the presence of the Prime Minister.
While this parliamentary session promises to be under tension, the deputy wanted to reaffirm his vision of political commitment.
“No, I don’t boycott, and I don’t even advise others to do so. I respect their choice, but that is not and that I was taught politics. Abdoulaye Wade always said: you should never do the policy of the empty chair, ”said Tafsir Thioye, calling for his colleagues to fully assume their parliamentary responsibilities.
-For the deputy, the restoration of the dignity and the authority of the National Assembly requires a rigorous control of government action, a commitment which he says he has carried during his campaign. He also recalled the steps taken in this direction: “I met the president of the National Assembly with my unaccompanied colleagues to discuss our role. I arrested the Prime Minister, who agreed to come to the Assembly every month to answer questions. He will be there, and I don’t see why I should boycott. »»
Tafsir Thioye insists on the duty of elected officials to confront executive power, even in a conflictual climate: “If we say representatives of the people, we must face the debates, not flee them. If some prefer not to go because they are afraid or they were insulted, then as much to resign. It takes courage to challenge the Prime Minister, ”reports RTS.
Returning to the position of unaccompanied deputies, he explains that he has tried to convince his colleagues to reconsider their choice: “I told them that I did not agree. If there is an organizational problem, let’s discuss it with the president of the Assembly. The internal regulations are vague on this point, there is a legal vacuum. But that is not a reason to refuse to participate in such a important session. »»
