Originally from the Casamance region, south of Senegal, Lamine Kora Kouyaté is an accomplished artist: singer, composer and master of the Kora, this instrument with 21 emblematic strings of West Africa. Coming from a line of griots, it is part of the continuity of the Mandingo oral tradition while bringing a contemporary touch to it, mixing ancestral rhythms and modern sounds.

Sharing his life between his region Sédhiou and Dakar, the Senegalese capital, where he performs regularly, Lamine Kouyaté just embodies this living link between cultural heritage and musical innovation. His style, described as a tradi-modern, seduces an audience varied by the richness of his compositions and the depth of his texts, which often carry messages of peace, identity and memory.

In 2008, he distinguished himself on the international scene during a tour of Cape Verde, strengthening his reputation as an artist committed and respected. His cultural commitment also goes beyond the musical framework: Lamine Kouyaté is also the author of the Jungle title, famous generic of the Jungle program of Kewoulo TV, a Senegalese investigation media recognized for its independent and rigorous journalism.

Through his music as in his media collaborations, Lamine Kora Kouyaté remains faithful to the spirit of griots: transmitting history, awakening consciences and uniting peoples by speech and music.
