Senegal-Pays-Bas Cooperation: Strategic collaboration to reduce post-harvest losses

The Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Breeding, Mabouba Diagne, received in Audience in Diamniadio a Dutch Horticultural Economic Mission led by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Senegal, Carmen Hagenars, with the aim of strengthening the existing strategic partnership in the horticultural sector between the two countries, we learned from an official source.

Mabouba Diagne and his Dutch partners exchanged during this meeting, among other things on the lines of strengthening Senegal-Dutch cooperation, the construction of storage hangars, the reduction of post-harvest losses and the improvement of access to agricultural equipment, said a press release from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Livestock.

“The exchanges also focused on the development of efficient irrigation systems, the promotion of local production of organ-mineral fertilizers, and on the increase in productivity and horticultural yields, to meet local market demand and seize export opportunities,” added the press release.

The text specifies that this meeting is part of the government’s vision to build productive, resilient and competitive agriculture.

Mabouba Diagne, invited on this occasion “Senegalese entrepreneurs and national private investors to get involved in the construction of storage hangars to support the policy of food sovereignty and consolidate agricultural value chains”.
