William Eklund has probably just had the fear of his life.
The young San Jose Sharks striker, who was to represent Sweden in the next world hockey championship, underwent a laceration on the wrist after a battle for the puck with the defender Filip Hronek of the Czechief, in a preparatory match.
The 22 -year -old immediately realized that something was wrong and quickly went to the bench of his team by firmly holding the left wrist. The Swedish trainers immediately took charge of Eklund by putting pressure on the injury.
Eklund was subsequently admitted to a local hospital in Brno in Czech Republic where the meeting took place.
According to his agent Todd Diamond, whose remarks have been reported by the sjhockeynow.com, Eklund is currently in a stable state.
“It looks like the tendons or nerves have not been affected,” he also said.
We can therefore say without being mistaken that Eklund will have to make a cross on the World Cup which must begin in Sweden and Denmark on May 9.
The Sharks player had to play an important role with his country after having had the best season of his career in the National Hockey League (NHL) with a 58 -point harvest in 77 games.
