A family barbecue turned into the drama on Sunday in Houston, Texas, when an uninvited individual opened fire. The first statements report a dead and several wounded, some of whom in critical condition.
The incident occurred in a Houston residence where a family meeting was organized, in the presence of several children. According to the first elements collected by the police, a man entered without being invited. After being summoned to leave, he would have started to shoot.
An armed response and a chaos scene
According to testimonies, family members were retaliated. Houston police assistant chef Patricia CANTU, said several shots have been exchanged: “Calls have been launched, reporting on several shootings and several injured. The officers arrived on the scene three minutes after the call”she said.
Upon arrival, the police still heard the detonations. “They saw people injured in various places around a residence”detailed Patricia CANTU. In total, at least 14 people were injured. Some of them went to the hospital on their own. A victim died, while several others are currently in surgery or in a stable state.
Arrested suspects
Several people have been placed in police custody, but the authorities are still unaware if the main suspect is among them. Police call on anyone present on the scene to come forward.
“It’s still very complicated. It was chaotic from the start”admitted the assistant chef Cantu. “We are asking, if there are witnesses or residents who have left the house to call our division specializing in homicides. We will certainly need your help.”
