This May starts with difficulties for operators. THE Thursday holidays paralyzed the slaughterhouses. A majority could not shoot down for two successive days for lack of sending hens by breeders. The latter fear too high removal costs in the aftermath of a holiday. A similar scenario is feared for the weekend next week.
Note, in Germany, the prices of reform hens deviated from their very high levels in April with more reforms scheduled after Easter. They were still still at high levels for the season. Nevertheless the authorities have closed a specialized slaughterhouse in Bavaria, one of the three largest in the country, for mistreatment problems. According to our information, the closure may well be only short -lived, as breeders are deadlocked. Difficult, however, to anticipate the consequences of this closure on the market.
