Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) will not participate in the Sprint race of the Miami Grand Prix of Formula 1 on Saturday after having an accident when he went to the starting grid in the rain.
On a wet track after the unexpected arrival of the rain, the Monegasque lost control of its car which typed laterally on the wall. If the contact did not seem violent, it was enough to break its front right suspension. It is a new blow for the Scuderia, already distant in the manufacturers’ classification and which will have only one car capable of registering points on Saturday, that of the seven -time British world champion Lewis Hamilton, who will start in fifth position after the abandonment of his teammate.
The start of the Sprint race was delayed due to the intense rain which fell on the Miami International Autodrome during the Training Tour. The quadruple Dutch reigning world champion Max Verstappen almost ended up in the wall during the training lap, but he managed to avoid the shock of accuracy.
