A trophy after 30 great prices for the podium, it gives a big boost but that is not enough to turn the head to Fabio Quartararo. The Frenchman turns to his national Grand Prix, which will take place next weekend at Le Mans, with a good dose of motivation but just as much sense of realities.
“It’s just a circuit”, he recalled his descent from the Jerez podium. “In Qatar, we were fast on a tour, but not in the race. In Jerez, we were fast both in the race and on a lap. We need one or two additional races to see where we are really and if we have the potential to fight with the first.”
If this podium changes “enormously” Of things mentally for him, the Yamaha pilot never ceased to remember that what can deeply modify his performances must come from his motorcycle, but it has not changed for several races.
“It’s the same motorcycle since Austin. We just stopped testing a lot of settings during the weekend, changing everything. We just try to keep the same motorcycle and I just try to push the motorcycle to the limit. Currently, we have nothing that will make us progress”, he stressed, without any bitterness but with realism. “This is why I say that we have zero waiting for the next races, because it’s the same motorcycle. We will see if we can relive these good times in the next races.”

“I think that for the next races, you don’t need expectations because the motorcycle is the same as in the last two great prices, and we know that we have suffered in Qatar. We have to stay calm and the day we will have the opportunity to make this kind of great price, we will seize it as much as possible.”
Do not be too optimistic for Le Mans
In the absence of substantial change on his M1, as the V4 which he now says clearly that he will determine his future with Yamaha, Quartararo shows any trial. “As I always say, you have to move forward step by step and I already think we have jumped several this weekend”, Did he want to remember by leaving Andalusia. “We had only one top 5, we had good results, but we immediately went from the podium to second place.”
“You have to stay calm for the next races. If the results do not yet come, you will have to be ready to be a bit behind, and why not relive the same Grand Prix”, wanted to anticipate the 2021 world champion. “[Il faut avancer] step by step. You should not be too optimistic for Le Mans. We will see where we will end. We may still be on the podium, maybe second, perhaps tenth, but as always, we will give ourselves 100%. “
In Le Mans, Yamaha’s past successes now seem far away, buried under the workforce taken by Ducati on site for five years. It is also a circuit usually less favorable to Fabio Quartarao than is Jerez, its only on -site achievements being three pole positions and a Podium in MotoGP, won in 2021. However, the pilot perceives the characteristics to be exploited.
“I think Le Mans is a good track for me because there are big braking, it’s a track where the tire does not degrade too much. I think it was a bit the key [à Jerez]. In Qatar, we know that there is a degradation and when you attack, I have the impression that the Ducati attacks a little less than us. We make much bigger efforts to stay on their times, and there is a time when we really have a degradation. Here, I was really able to attack the whole race 100%, even with a small degradation. “
“Le Mans is the kind of race like Jerez. It’s just that I don’t want to get carried away because you know, when you arouse expectations … If I want to be on the podium and I finish fifth, I will not be happy. Obviously, I will give my maximum, as [au GP d’Espagne]and I hope I will be at the press conference on Sunday … “
