SX US 250: Deegan titled in Denver

Cole Davies thought he had done the hardest, but a Tonitrant Haiden Deegan went to go and chew the victory in Denver. The American is a double blow by winning the first SX US 250 title from his career on the west coast. Julien Beaumer finished second in the evening and returns to the race for vice-champion.

What happened before the final?

Garrett Marchbanks signs the Holeshot of a Heat n ° 1 disputed on a land made delicate by watering the day. The departure makes several traps, like Jo Shimoda blocked behind other pilots. Marchbanks himself then starts with the fault by sliding, giving his first place to Haiden Deegan. The red plate holder wins in front of Enzo Lopes for a double Yamaha, in front of the Kawasaki of Drew Adams and Marchbanks. Shimoda ensures the essentials by closing the top-5. The falls also animate the Heat n ° 2, with in particular Julien Beaumer (best time of qualifications) and Jordon Smith on the ground in the first round. The rise of the two men makes the show of the race, and they manage to finish in the qualifying top-9 for the final. Cole Davies takes advantage of her holeshot to win and lead a Yamaha quadruple in front of Michael Mosiman, Coty Schock and Robbie Wageman.

The Finale: Deegan in Force

Cole Davies signs the best start in front of Michael Mosiman and Haiden Deegan, on whom he is 17 points behind before this final. The objective of the New Zealand is clear: winning to keep like title to Salt Lake City. He leads the first part of the final, while Deegan puts himself in the rhythm. The championship leader will seek Mosiman in mid-race, and then finds himself 3.5 seconds from Davies. Meanwhile, Julien Beaumer goes back after a start in the world of the peloton, and is close to the podium. He leaves Mosiman, which falls 3 minutes from the Gong.

Faster in the second part of the final, Deegan joined Davies one minute from the finish. His first attempt to overcome is aborted, the second also. The third is the ultimately good for the American, who takes advantage of a too exterior line of Davies for the block. The two men go to contact and the New Zealander in fact the price. Fallen, he gets up painfully to finish fifth. This offers the podium in Beaumer (2nd) and Garrett Marchbanks (3rd), but especially the crown in Deegan (see man of the day). All under the cheers of his fans, but also the hoots of those who did not appreciate his maneuver.

The man of the day: the first champion of the season

Hunter Lawrence (2023) and Tom Vialle (2024) had deprived Haiden Deegan of the title on the East Coast. Twice vice-champion, the only 19-year-old American is giving glory for his third season in Haut-Niveau, this time to the west. Pilot Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing did not rush to Denver, taking the time he needed to return to Michael Mosiman then Cole Davies. The way he won his title by going beyond the New Zealander is finally in the image of his character: she leaves no one indifferent. More follower of motocross, he will have the outdoor crown to defend this summer. Do you want to know more about this new pearl of the MX and SX US? History: Yamaha as in the good old days

As for KTM in 450, this is a first for Yamaha in the Empower Field at Mile High in category 250. The Japanese brand had already won in Denver, but in 1996. We were driving in the Old Mile High Stadium, and Kevin Windham had won the first 125 West final in the capital of Colorado. The only one in the old stadium, by the way. Denver had since welcomed the victories of Kawasaki (Adam Cianciarulo in 2019), Husqvarna (RJ Hampshire in 2023) and Honda (Hunter Lawrence in 2022, Jo Shimoda in 2024). Haiden Deegan adds Yamaha to the ear of the Denver Broncos.
