The police no longer want … and file a complaint

It is an unusual situation on the other side of the Alps. UNARMA, the Carabinier union association, has filed an official complaint with the Rome prosecution, concerning … cars used by agents.

In 2023, all carabinieri have been equipped with an Alfa Romeo Tonale. Two years later, the police are disillusioned.

Alfa Romeo Tonale, an unsuitable car for police officers

“The Alfa Romeo Tonale is not fit for the service” can we read in the official complaint filed by onein recent days in Rome. The police are experiencing serious problems related to the vehicle’s handling.

A car that would not ultimately be suitable for this type of service. Driving would be difficult “especially during emergency situations, so when it is necessary to circulate at high speed (as during prosecution or requests for assistance), but also on rugged road surfaces, which are typical situations for the members of the force themselves” we read in the Italian press.

A complaint filed and an open investigation

An unsuitable Alfa Romeo “for the safety of operators forced to use a means that can compromise the effectiveness of interventions and endanger their safety.” For Antonio Nicolosi, secretary of the national generation of UNARMA, it is unacceptable that the military “operate in potentially dangerous conditions.”
