THE SCAN SPORT – The Bleu-Blanc-Rouge of Ferrari livery at the Miami Grand Prix was the subject of mockery and many criticisms by Formula 1 fans.

Traditions are lost (temporarily only) at Ferrari. On the occasion of the Miami Grand Prix, the Italian brand modified the dress of its two single-seaters, always mainly red, but adding to the back of the SF-25 and on the Aileron the emblematic blue and white of one of its sponsors. A special operation for the anniversary of the collaboration between the giant Hewlett-Packard and the stable. “In many ways, this is a unique race and, during this weekend in Florida, where we will also celebrate the first anniversary of our partnership with our reigning sponsor, HP”, underlined Frédéric Vasseur, the boss of the team.

The Scuderia has largely communicated on this ephemeral particular livery since the single-seater will regain its usual colors from the next Emilie-Romagne test on May 18. Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton also adorned new colors with dominant white and blue combinations.

“A sacrilege”

The intrusion of blue on the most iconic formula 1 of the grid caused a mountain of reactions. And, overall, fans have not really joined this new idea compared to a lack of taste. Many supporters of the Italian brand have even denounced this unusual dressing. “It’s like pineapple on a pizza”mocks one of them. “Ferrari turns into Williams before our eyes. It absolutely has to stop! ”adds another amateur of the brand’s iconic red blood.

“Bravo for this monstrosity”

“Bravo for this monstrosity”laughs another user on Twitter. “This blue is horrible”, “A sacrilege” Can we still read. “This Miami GP Ferrari is ugly. Why not choose a very blue ferrari with touches of red for this race? ”still regrets an amateur of the discipline. “The HP printer has no ink”finally jokes a contributor on Instagram.

A Ferrari in white and blue in 1964

Ferrari has already run in blue in the past. In blue and white more precisely. But you have to go back to 1964 and a somewhat special event to find the trace of a single -seater different from its predecessors. Furious against the Italian sports authorities (ACI) who had refused to approve the 250 LM, Enzo Ferrari had sworn that his cars would never drive in red. “The Commendatore” had put his threats to the time of two races. John Surtes has thus become the only Ferrari driver in Formula 1 to become world champion in a car in the scuderia not painted in red. Things came back to normal in 1965 and the Ferrari found their historical color to the great relief of the lovers of the prank horse.

A black nose in 2001 and 2005

Since then, the Italian manufacturer has episodically retouched the dress of his cars during special events. In Monza in 2001, red single -seaters carried for example a black nose (and without logos), in tribute to the victims of the September 11 attacks in New York. The 2005 Ferrari F2005 also ran with a black nose at the Bahrain Grand Prix that year, as a sign of mourning for Pope John Paul II.
