Alex Albon has signed a remarkable new performance in Miami. The Williams F1 driver qualified eighth for the Sprint of the Grand Prix in Florida, and he thinks he could have done even better if he had been as efficient as in free tests.

“A little disappointed with the SQ3, my turn seemed good but I was a bit far. I had to understand more. The car was better in free trials than in qualifying, and we had trouble working the tires, so this is the main thing that we have to improve tomorrow, but we are the best of the others” said Albon, who confirmed that the points are “The objective”.

Carlos Sainz will be 15th at the start after an error in SQ2 which prevented him from signing a time. The Spanish pilot admits regrets and recognizes his fault: “It was not ideal, we chose to take only one tour, and the risk is that as soon as you make a mistake you do not make a time.”

“This time, I made a mistake, I blocked the wheels before turn 11 and I have to analyze what I did. I didn’t feel like I was doing something different compared to usual so I have to understand.”

“It will be a long sprint for me. I think I am faster than the pilots around me because I think that today, we had the pace to reach the top 10. An expensive error but the positive is that it happens to me for the sprint, and there is still the real qualifier and the real race.”
