“We have prepared this project with the people welcomed,” said Vincent Morival, director. He and his teams have been waiting for him for years, this new place for the day care of ABEJ Solidarité. This time, after delays at work, that’s it, a date is fixed: it will be for mid-October.
An too small and poorly appointed building
Why this new place? “The Rue Solférino building has 4 floors, very impractical, especially for people with reduced mobility. We are really cramped, ”says Vincent Morival. The reception part, on the ground floor, is taken by storm and often filled, to rest, load your phone, have a coffee.
In the new building, this reception area will be enlarged, with almost 200 m², so that people are not “tight” and can rest quietly with comfortable armchairs, which will avoid tensions related to promiscuity. Currently, it is not uncommon for the welcomed to fall asleep on the tables. Above all, this rest space will be non -mixed, “ideal for welcoming women safely”, details ABEJ Solidarité.
A 380 m² garden
The new project will meet the expectations of private individuals, who, moreover, have participated in the development of the list of needs. “We have planned an interior courtyard with a 380 m² garden, which will allow people not to stay in front of the sidewalk as is currently the case on rue Solférino”. A green space that will also contribute to the well-being of welcomed.
Niches, a bicycle shelter have been requested, they will be integrated. Secure lockers will recharge your phone safely.
Lined health center, more showers,
The health center, installed on the first floor of 228, rue Solférino, will double surface on rue du Four in Chaux, and will be installed on the ground floor to be accessible to all, especially for people with reduced mobility.
On the sanitary side, again, no more comfort, with enlarged spaces, and also a larger number of showers and toilets. “We go from 3 to 10 showers, and from 5 to 10 toilets! A laundromat is also planned. For the long -awaited luggage, you will have to wait a little longer, but the idea is not abandoned.
A kitchen, workshops
Day reception also wants to develop activities with welcomed. “Three pavilions of manual and artistic activities are integrated into the building, still on the ground floor. Also, we wanted a kitchen to regularly offer meals, which does not exist rue Solférino, culinary workshops can take place. The idea of offering real balanced hot meals rather than a sandwich motivated this new equipment.
Well-being proposals like sophrology or sweet gym are on the program in view of the available rooms. For the teams, this place will also be very profitable, with more offices, which will be located on the first floor.
A surface multiplied by 3 or even 4
Where will the new welcome be located? It will always be Lille, given the public concerned. But in another district. “We found a building to renovate with a land, rue du Four in Chaux, near Lillénium,” says the director.
The new reception will have almost 1600 m², “which multiplies by 3 or even 4 our reception area compared to the building rue Solférino! The long -awaited inauguration will take place before the end of the year.
The resourcery will move in 2026
It is a period conducive to changes and moves for the association. After its day care, it will be the turn of its resourcery, born in 2020 in Villeneuve-d’Ascq, to change site. In the spring of 2026, she will open Moulins district.
