Paul Capelle and two of his friends were entitled to a hell of a surprise during a training trip. In the Soulor pass a car of the Team Visma | Lease a Bike exceeds them and then stops a little further on the side of the road. Grischa Niemannthe sports director of the team, indicates to them as a certain Jonas Vingegaard performs recognition of 12th stage of Tour de France who will have bonded on July 17, and offers the three friends to join the Danish champion.

The rest is Paul Capelle (19) who tells it: “I left for a four -hour outing with two friends. We go to the Col du Soulor. We realize that a car follows us and that it is the car of the visma | Lease a bike. Towards the middle of the Grischa Niemann pass, the sports director, says to us: “Jonas is two minutes ahead, he runs quietly, you can catch him”. I arrive at its height, I challenge it. I ask him if it doesn’t bother him that we ride with him. He immediately accepted. We discussed nutrition, training. I was pleasantly surprised, he is someone booked, but not someone cold or closed. The image we have of him on the Tour de France is necessarily different with all the pressure.
He went very, very quickly downhill. This is the first time that I have reached 90 km/h. At the bottom of Hautacam he gave us a little nutrition to me and my friend, gels, fruit pasta … After we attacked the Hautacam pass and there it was another pair of sleeves. We had to work to follow him. I lived the best day in my life on a bicycle. I would never forget it!“
