With a stage victory in early February in the warmth of Oman’s Tour, a third place in the general classification, and beautiful promises sown for the future. It was before chaining the troubles, first with a fall in training caused by a wandering cat, then two bowls on the Strade Bianche, and a new fall on the roads of Tirreno-Adriatico.
Hailed in his momentum, the Breton climber of Groupama-FDJ (28 years old) left to rebuild himself on the island of Tenerife, in internship, with the idea of gaining momentum in view of the Giro (May 9-June 1), his big goal for 2025. Back to competition this week on the occasion of the Tour de Romandie, he knows that it will be difficult for him to compete immediately with the best, and that his ambitions are.
“I’m going to have to hang on”
“I want to go on the Giro for the general classification. I will surely have ten gallery days. I will have to hang on, like today. It should result behind. I want to be combative for my discovery of the Giro and do beautiful things. Even if we lose two-three minutes the first week, it will be necessary to be conquering then”, he confided to the microphone of the team, this Thursday.

In great suffering last year on the roads of the Tour de France, he had reacted by finishing sixth with a Vuelta won by Primoz Roglic and ninth in the Tour de Lombardy. This time, his priority goes to the Giro. “We will put what remains for the Tour de France,” he said with a smile. “It would be wonderful to win a stage victory on the Tour after having made a good general classification on the Giro.”
