In July 2022, Quebec humorist Philippe Bond was targeted by allegations of sexual floods in a file published in The press.
Faced with pressure, he had withdrawn from public life, ending his radio contracts and shows. No criminal accusation has been brought against him to date.
In October 2024, Bond announced his return via a broom, The wind in the facearousing mixed reactions. More recently, his announcement to the effect that he is considering a return on stage also caused a lot of stirring on the web.
The kind of turmoil that also affects her loved ones, including his spouse Stéphanie Couillard, who published a long message on her social networks at the start of the week, a message addressed to her “Facebook friends” who embark on large tirades against her spouse. “Hello Facebook friends!
I’m really not used to doing that but there I have enough. If we are Facebook friends it is that we must know each other. Next or indirectly, knowledge maybe? Old and former colleagues? Friends of friends?! In short, I have never been used to accepting or sending requests from friends to pure unknown so if we find ourselves as an II I dare to believe that we have a minimum of respect and good manners.
At this point I think you all know that Philippe is the father of my children and my spouse that I like more than anything for almost 9 years.
I don’t make the ostrich. I don’t put some stakes. I am very aware that his return divides, makes people talk. Most of you have shown great respect for the situation that we have lived for almost 3 years. Beautiful words, messages of encouragement, news requests and especially “But you Steph, how are you?!” And for that I am so grateful.
Whether you agree or not with his return on stage, I respect your choice. Whether you believe hard as iron all the gossip you have read and read about Philippe, I respect your choice. What comes to seek to me is when my algorithm sends me completely despicable gossip sites and I see the name of a person I “know”, with whom I am “Facebook friends” write hateful and free insignifications under an equally malicious publication. That you have the desire to participate and comment on these publications is your choice but have at least the intelligence to withdraw from your Facebook friends. Otherwise, let me do it at the PC.
I read a comment treating the man that I like of “marde eats” and “useless human” and despite the shell that I have formed, I remain human. The man that this person insults is my spouse. An incredible father for my children. An exceptional son and son -in -law. A friend faithful to his childhood boyfriends from primary school. A perfect man? Absolutely not! A man who has regrets? Yes! A man who admits not always having been a respectful gentleman with women? A man who, if he could, would go back 20 years and would probably do things differently? Yes, I grant you. On the other hand, we will never agree with the terms used to describe Philippe. Never.
I think you are all smart enough to know that in life there is not just a version. The pure strangers who trial Philippe on social networks do not know him. Do not know any details about the stories told and the people concerned.
So that’s it. I empty my heart here this morning because to read that Philippe is “a useless human” may not affect Philippe but me yes. I write this text and have my eyes in the water and a knot in my throat. It affects our families, friends and loved ones who love us and all these people who know Philippe know how an exceptional and absolutely useful human for our lives.
