This Friday evening, the program “Jakaarlo” broadcast on the TFM welcomed Mame Makhtar Gueye, spokesperson for the NGO Jamra. His intervention focused on the controversy surrounding the artist Mia Guissé. Questioned by Malal Talla, Gueye responded to accusations of relentlessness which were addressed to him concerning Mia Guissé.
Mame Makhtar Gueye recalled that Guissé is only one of the many cases that Jamra has highlighted publicly. He illustrates his point with the striking example of Wally Seck. In 2016, Seck was criticized after carrying a female handbag, an initiative that had generated tensions between Jamra and the artist. “Look at him today, he has a brilliant career,” he said to show that Jamra’s goal is never to compromise careers.
According to him, Jamra seeks above all to play an educational role rather than harm. “This clearly shows that we are not trying to slow down anyone’s career,” he said. This declaration, reported by our colleagues from Kawtef, aims to clarify the intention of the NGO in its public actions.
