Princess Leonor arrived in Panama this May 3, where she is carrying out the eighth stopover of her training cruise on board the Juan Sebastián school ship from Elcano. The Princess of Asturias had the immense joy of finding her mother, Queen Letizia, who made the trip to America specially to spend her Mother’s Day with her daughter. It’s been four months since they left at the port of Cadiz.

Hard emotion during the reunion of Queen Letizia and Princess Leonor
On January 11, 2025, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain made great signs from the Quai de Cadix, Andalusia, while the school ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano which transported their daughter moved slowly from the port. The emotion was palpable among the parents of young aspiring sailors who observed their offspring take off. Four months later, the eighty sailboat arrived in Panama, the eighth stopover of this world tour carried out as part of their training at the Military Naval School.

Princess Leonor, 19, and her comrades have already stopped in Brazil, Uruguay, Chile or Peru. This stopover in Panama will last until Tuesday, May 6, after which the ship will take three days to join Cartagena, Colombia. The last stages are the Dominican Republic and finally New York. This stopover in Panama is special for the guards since families are allowed to join them. Queen Letizia was one of those parents who responded to the invitation.

Queen Letizia had not seen her daughter for four months
This Saturday, the emotion was strong when the princess of the Asturias was able to throw herself into her mother’s arms. Queen Letizia made the trip to Panama specially to review her elder. There is no official commitment provided for in the Royal House agenda concerning Queen Letizia at least until May 9, which means that the queen made the trip in a strictly private setting.

Coincidence of the calendar, the first Sunday in May is Mother’s Day in Spain. Queen Letizia can therefore spend this very special day with her eldest daughter. Her second daughter, Infanta Sofia, is in Wales where she is in the process of taking her last exams. In a few days, she should win her international baccalaureate. At the end of May 2023, King Felipe and Queen Letizia went to Wales to attend the Leonor end -of -study ceremony, who studied in this same boarding school.

The Princess of Asturias will spend Mother’s Day in Panama with Queen Letizia
Queen Letizia wore a simple white t-shirt during this reunion, proof that she wanted this simplest and relaxed moment possible. Mother and daughter will finally be able to exchange at the time, when this trip was not easy for Princess Leonor. For the first time, the royal house filed a complaint to protect the heiress from the throne while images filmed by surveillance cameras had been sold to the press when it was in stopover in Punta Arenas in Chile. Other stolen photos, these taken during a stopover in Uruguay, showed the Princess of Asturias in bikini on the beach.

Queen Letizia should stay until May 6 with her daughter. The next reunion will take place in a month. The ship is expected to arrive in New York on June 5 and left on June 10. The 80 comrades of Leonor will then make a long five -week trip to cross the Atlantic and return to Spain. Princess Leonor will come from New York by plane, saving him for several weeks on board. These weeks will allow him to continue his accelerated training.
