Indecency and oligarchy | The press

I do not know if you have seen this meme circulating on social networks and which explains sarcastically the distribution of wealth in our countries.

This story of which we do not know the author is very accurate. It is called “our economic system explained by cookies”. I sum it up.

Sitting at a table, an ultra -tie, a poor and a person in the middle class share 20 cookies. Ultrariche appropriates 19 cookies and leaves 1 to the middle class representative. As you can guess, the poor ends up with nothing to put in the tooth. Meanwhile, the Ultrariche tells the guy in the middle class that the poor will steal his cookie.

This is the mystification at the heart of neoliberalism which leads the planet on the edge of the abyss. To put a recognizable image on this story, think of Elon Musk charcuting federal programs to deprive thousands of civil servants of their livelihood.

The height of indecency is to sit on a fortune of more than 400 billion and work to cut food to people whose simple wages are assimilated to waste.

Also think of all these other billionaires who revolve around Mr. Trump and who rub his hands while waiting for the tax cuts that the president has promised them.

Even if Donald Trump does not want fanatics of Maga ideology to understand his merry -go -round, prices are pieces of cookies that will be torn off from laborious masses to be conveyed to those who are already sleeping on mountains of pancakes. These people are called ultra -ties, but the vast majority are made up of biosphere gravediggers erected in success models by a neoliberal ideology that sanctifies superpredateurs.

Nature has become an open buffet for a tiny part of the world’s population. These people are ready to shave whole ecosystems to add a few billion to their assets.

This indecency which squats a certain humanity is ecologically and socially suicidal. We must be unconscious not to realize that we are now living in time borrowed from our grandchildren. Only the return to a slightly fairer sharing of wealth will help us to avoid these large turbulence that advance towards our world.

These people who seek to garner always more without paying their fair share of the tax burden are not part of the solution. Summed on mountains of sufficient resources to live comfortably for thousands of years, they always want more.

As a result, on the planet, those who seek the minimum necessary without finding it pouring out miserably in front of those who found a lot without ever being satisfied. Even more unhealthy, these privileged people use nebulous schemes to prevent their heirs with a successions tax.

Let us hear well, I am not against decent enrichment or the right liberal economy. I simply conspire those who use ethically questionable methods to never pay taxes. Enforced by power and dopamine, these ultra -ties are now ready to do anything to be the first to have $ 1,000 billion. Bets are open.

On the starting line of this new race, the charitable organization Oxfam America identifies: Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Larry Ellison, Mark Zuckerberg, Bernard Arnault. Before 2030, said the organization, a winner should be crowned.

Pending the birth of this great king of the rich, new billionaires continue to appear in the magazine’s records Forbes. Thanks to the outbreak of stock markets, known as Oxfam, in 2024, the number of billionaires increased to 2769, against 2565 in 2023. Meanwhile, the world’s poverty rate has remained practically unchanged since the 1990s.

What is even more frightening is to note that some of these ultra -ties work to blur the tracks by presenting Wokism, sexual and gender identity, abortion and equity, diversity and inclusion programs (EDI) as the major problems with which their societies are confronted.

Even if there are fixes to be made in some of these social files, their instrumentalization is largely used to tackle the low instincts of our species.

The real problems of humanity are 1000 times more in this ultra-concentration of wealth that leads humanity and biodiversity to the edge of the precipice. It is this delicacy that deserves to be severely regered by laws. The fiscal avoidance strategies of all kinds, these ethically condemnable methods are the real social cancer to which must be urgently tackled. They are much more worrying than civil servants who earn the right necessary to ensure their basic needs in the Pyramid of Maslow and pay their just taxation.

The moral of my story is as follows: “We will judge Mark Carney who has just been elected to his achievements. But if we consider all the direct or indirect traces that he left on his wake in the circles of high finance, he undeniably flirted with this world. To reassure us, he told us roughly that his knowledge acquired on tax havens are assets that he can put at the service of tax justice in Canada. »»

It’s noted, Mr. Carney! We will wait to see him to believe it. Are you going to draw a Canada to us where the big eaters of cookies share or are we going to let them stuff themselves peacefully alongside the increasingly worrying food precariousness? Since you have repeated to us that you know these practices well, our expectations are very high. We can’t wait to see which edge you will choose. To follow!
