TElquel Impact: What are the specifics of training within the Higher Transport and Logistics Institute (ISTL)?
Abdelilah HIFDI: ISTL has, first of all, an essential specificity: training is provided to logistics professionals on the two banks of the Mediterranean. Because, you should know that the Institute is the fruit of collaboration between the Transport and logistics federation of Morocco and a conglomerate of French federations which are grouped within AFTRI (French Association of International Road Transport). The idea was to create an entity that was able to train skills for two sectors that were emerging in 2006: transport and logistics. These skills would then have for outlets the companies installed in Morocco, including the French structures established in the kingdom. And so, there is no better alignment between a higher education establishment and companies that shape demand. Because it is essential to meet the real needs of the sector.
The second specificity lies in the fact that the ISTL specializes in logistics, when we could have extended our training to other sectors. In addition, ISTL is recognized by the State and form of the doctorate bac.
Logistics and transport are field trades. How does it translate into your educational approach?
We are registered in a business logic and not to know. And this is reflected in terms of learning, since a work -study system has been set up between the Institute and the Company. We recognize, therefore, the company as a training space, and this, in the same way as the training establishment. As a result, our students who are trained in a company for 2 or 3 years are more equipped to work there after obtaining their diplomas. The work -study model is panacea to promote the use of our young people.
-What is the logic of trade implies concretely?
The most important thing for us is know-how. We train our students in storage, order preparation, etc. And this is done through the skill approach (APC). It is the strength of our educational model. This approach is today recognized internationally.
I also want to specify that the APC increases the level of requirement. In the classic model, the modules are noted separately and an average is calculated, allowing you to pass or not at the upper level. In the APC, the transition to above, requires the acquisition of all skills. A student from the ISTL does not validate his course if he does not master all the skills, without exception. And I can tell you that it doesn’t always please our students.
What impact on integration into the labor market?
The skill approach is excellent to promote access to the labor market. This model results in an insertion rate of 100%. Logistics companies are even proactive in their hiring approaches and regularly ask us for the CVs of our winners.
