From Thursday 8 to Saturday May 10 will take place the 15th Pyrenean book festival of Aure and Sobrarbe. The journalist and writer Santiago Mendieta, with a double Franco-Spanish culture, will chair the fair, a symbol of the cross-border dimension of the event.
This year, the theme chosen is “Reading nature”. Forestiers and forestry will unveil their secrets in a scientific and poetic approach. Myths will be discussed, especially that of the bear, of course, more than ever omnipresent in current literature, but always dominated by the naturalist passion of Jean-Jacques Camarra.
It is a Bilingual Franco-Aragonese fair, in partnership with the municipality of Boltaña, twinned with Saint-Lary-Soulan, the Hautes-Pyrénées department, the Pyrenees National Park and the National Forest Office. The subject of biodiversity and climate change will be present, with the presence of testimonies of history, geology, sociology, to better project oneself into the future.
This book festival, intended for all audiences, emphasizes the visual with seven artist exhibitions often writers, whose notoriety is international, like Beatrice Alemagna, who produced the poster, Albert Lémant, installed in the Baronnies, Daniel Maja, illustrator of a hundred children’s books and literary works, Pierre Pitrou, photographer …
-More than 80 authors, around forty exhibitors: publishers, institutions and Pyreneist heritage associations, and three large bookstores: La Boletania with Aragonese publishers and authors, the Blue Librairie and Aure de Saint-Lary-Soulan, and Le Vagabond Immobile d’Arreau.
Opening of the show, at the gymnasium, Thursday at 2:30 p.m. with official speeches. Continuous entertainment until Saturday, May 10, 6:30 p.m., with a fence in music.
Children’s entertainment is organized on Friday and Saturday, at 2:30 p.m., at the Maison du Patrimoine on Friday and Saturday, including a tale and drawing workshop from the universe of Béatrice Alemagna and her album not even in a dream, as well as Raphaëlle Jessic, Myrtille.
For adults, conferences, presentations of new books by the authors, exchanges and debates in the podium space, from poetry in concert. Many themes are addressed: the environment, water, forest to be preserved, cross -border exchanges, mountain architecture … The detailed program is to be removed from the tourist office.
