“We said we had an appointment in 25 years”: it was the promise of an independent photographer who in 2000 had photographed all the inhabitants of the village of Cassaniouze in Cantal. He kept his word since 25 years later, he released the aircraft again.

In Cassaniouze, in Cantal, 25 years later, Pierre Soissons releases his goal again. In 2000, he photographed all the inhabitants of the village to mark the passage in the new century. Philippe Fleury, initiator of the project, says: “25 years ago, Pierre said yes in 2 minutes. There he said yes in 30 seconds. A rural commune like ours has damn evolved. The trades have changed, the agricultural world is less important and people came from outside. It is important to show how we live today, in a rural France like ours, rather than showing how we go out.”.

Even 25 years later, stone empathy and humor have not aged. For some, it is also an opportunity to remember old memories. Michel Castanier, mayor (se) of Cassaniouze, underlines: “For Cassaniouze, being reflected elsewhere by this book shows that there is a dynamism in the village, with associations, all volunteers. For the village, I think it’s a very nice image”.

Pierre Soissons, author of the book “Breaks and poses, Cassaniouze, I promise you an image”, explains: “At the end of the book, we had promised, in the form of a joke, to start again 25 years later. The problem is that we are there! As we have refeuced the book before starting again, I saw the inhabitants in the book and I see them again. I have the chance to do a job where you can hope, from time to time, that some photos remain, hung on people”.

Much more than simple photos, this book has crossed the generations in the village. A young resident indicates: “It’s a book that binds us all. It’s like a family album. We all have it in our library or placed in the living room. We are part of this young generation which was born after 2000. Now we have our place in this project and in this book”.

The second edition will be released on July 19. The meeting is given, why not, for the third volume, in 2050.
