At the start of the week, the Fige’Ball team went to Gourdon to face the Volley Club de Bourrian for the return phase of the semi-finals of the Ufolep departmental first division championship. After their narrow victory 3 to 2 of the first leg, Augustin Baleydier’s partners were keen to confirm this result. But facing them stood the team of Rowan Higenboom which has grown in power and which has made an excellent season. From the first set, the tone was set. Thanks to a well in place workforce and instructions respected to the letter, the Figeacois dominated the debates during the first two sets. A burst of pride allowed the premises to win the third round with it brilliantly. In the fourth set, Joris Chauvet and Thibault Marger played the old Roublards to thwart the Bourriana attacks. Martin Moreaux, like a wall, allowed the “blue and white” to glean precious points. Fige’Ball wins this very pleasant match 3 to 1 and qualifies for the final which will be played in St Céré on May 24.
The other semi-final will oppose the Ball’Geac team and that of the ball fly from St Cere. With their victory in the first leg in 3 dry sets, there could be a 100 % Figeacois final for the second consecutive year.
