In the series The Last of Usextremely rare are the scenes that the actors asked to change. But there is an exception, as Pedro Pascal and Gabriel Luna revealed.
The Seriesphiles will have to be noted every Monday in their agenda since April 14, the date of the return of the phenomenon series The Last of Us For its season 2. This new salvo resumes five years after the events of season 1, and sees Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) more distant than ever. A distance that leaves room for new characters, like Gail (Catherine O’Hara), or Dina (Isabela Merced). The other character who finds his place this season is that of Tommy (Gabriel Luna), Joel’s brother whom we finally saw little in season 1. While the actor confided in the hectic behind the scenes of episode 2 and the emotion that upset him in episode 3, he and his fiction brother confided in a scene that they have changed.
The Last of Us : Pedro Pascal and Gabriel Luna asked to change a scene from the series
At the end of March, the entire cast of the series The Last of Us was gathered for a press day. It was during the press conference granted to the international press that the team remembered a scene that had been changed during the shooting of season 1. It was Gabriel Luna who takes the anecdote’s lead by addressing Pedro Pascal: “We both spent time in Texas. I grew up in Austin. You spent time in San Antonio. It helped us to work together to find a common accent. But I think the time that you and I spent repeating the bar scene was also a very strong element to weld us. You and I sat there and we took Craig’s words. We haven’t changed a single word, it’s promised, but we just reworked the whole.“He explains, referring to the scene where Joel asks his brother to drive Ellie to the hospital of Salt Lake City, and that the latter refuses while announcing to Joel that it is because his wife is pregnant.
Craig Mazin, the showrunner, confirms that the bar scene is one of the rare modified in The Last of Us
Once the version of Pedro and Gabriel told, it is Craig Mazin, the showrunner of the series, who abounds in their direction and explains why he accepted the modifications: “It was great. In general, everyone is incredibly respectful of the scripts we write, including boys. But we also respect you. And sometimes, it happens that one of the directors says: “Oh, do we need this replica?” And I replied: “I guess not.”. Finally, it was Pedro who came to see me and said to me: “Let me defend the scenario as it is a moment”, which, as an author, gives me heart“He says, and specify:”For the bar scene, they both took the stage and came back to see me by saying: “Listen, we took these different ends of the stage and we moved, interchangeed. I reread and I said to myself,” damn, it’s so much better “. And you know that I would have told you if I had thought the opposite. It demonstrates the level of detail.“
