“A minority of thugs”: in Vigneux-sur-Seine, a playground burnt down 24 hours after its inauguration

Children will have taken advantage of only a few hours. This Thursday evening, the Gros-Buisson Park Games area, located in Vigneux-sur-Seine (Essonne), was partially destroyed by a fire that the mayor (SE), Thomas Chazal, described as “criminal” in a statement published this morning and signed by the entire municipal council.

The fire broke out around 9:15 p.m. while the park was preparing to close its doors. Despite the intervention of firefighters from the Vigneux rescue center, the flames have reduced part of the ten games and synthetic coating in ashes.

“We are disgusted”

This state -of -the -art equipment, built for an amount of 90,000 euros, had been inaugurated the day before by the councilor and his team in the presence of dozens of parents and children. The town hall favors the track of a voluntary fire start

According to the councilor, the “voluntary” origin of the departure of flames is no doubt because of the “preserved framework” in which this area is located, dismissing any accidental track. In its press release, the town hall denounces an “act of destruction” committed by “a minority of thugs”. She filed a complaint this Friday morning and mobilizes her video surveillance cameras located near the park to identify suspicious acts concomitant to the facts.

And to ensure that “everything will be done so that light is done, that the managers are identified, prosecuted, and sanctioned up to the gravity of their act”. For the time being, barriers and ribalise protect the site, but Thomas Chazal assures that the playground will be rebuilt.
