Small dishes for a large project at the Chirongui market

This weekend at the Chirongui market, parents of students and teachers from the Bouéni primary school organized a sale of local dishes. This sale should make it possible to finance the educational trip of CP students scheduled for May in Madagascar.

While the suitcases are not yet completed, Ana, Léane and their comrades are already ready to fly May 20… Discovering Malagasy agriculture. The main objective of this trip is to discover the Rice fields in the city of Diego. An educational journey and a rich cultural experience which represents, for some of these young people aged 6 and 7a first outing outside French territory.

Last detail but not the least; THE funding. In order to raise funds, these young people have combined their parents and teachers to offer different traditional Mahorais dishes for sale this weekend at the Chirongui market.

Lip smile and full of energy, Ana shares her enthusiasm: “Today I have prepared with my mother of the tuna, potatoes and other things. We are there to sell everything we have prepared and have money for our trip.”

Poulpe carry, Coco cassava leaves, rice cakes or Fresh fish… The stalls are full this morning. Parents, students and teachers all got hold of the paw to run their stand.

What attract customers like youir who has not gone empty -handed. “For me it is a good thing because nothing that is forgotten there. It is really 100% local Mahoran cuisine. Nothing is left to chance. I made myself happy by buying a local fish salad, it’s been a long time since I had eaten.”

At the initiative of the sale of this weekend at the Chirongui market, Teachers and parents of students from the Bouéni primary school Who hope to collect as much money as possible in order to finance the hotels and activities on site.

“We made requests from the structures to obtain financial aid but we are still waiting a little because our files are attentive. So, in the meantime, we found another alternative, we thought we were going to cook to finance the trip of the children”says a mother this morning.

For the time being, no subsidy has been perceived. Sales therefore continue this Sunday at the Chirongui market to help 45 CP students and their 25 guides to spend an unforgettable stay in Madagascar.
