A 20 -year -old young man appeared to the Montauban judicial court for two flights committed a few months apart via the Snapchat platform. He bailed individuals with false motorcycles, cashed the money or flew the machine, then disappeared. A repeat offender, he had already been sentenced to 18 months in prison for extortion.

The juvenile face, the hair pulled back by a Catagan, Mathys, 20, struggles to contain his emotion, this Friday, May 2, 2025, by entering the box of the accused court of the judicial court of Montauban.

The young man, from Beaumont-de-Lomagne, appears in the immediate appearance procedure for two flights committed according to the same operating mode, on December 15, 2024 and April 29, 2025.

A well -established operating mode via snapchat

Already known to justice, the defendant was sentenced to 18 months in prison in an extortion case. In this new file, the facts have a similar mechanism: using the platform Snapchatit comes into contact with individuals interested in the purchase or sale of a motorcycle. The meetings are fixed in an isolated barn, located near his parents’ home in Beaumont-de-Lomagne.

The first flight takes place on December 15. A buyer from Gard gives Mathys the sum of 2,800 euros for the supposed purchase of a motorcycle. The exchange takes place, then the young man disappears with money. The second incident, April 29, this time targets a motorcycle-cross seller: Mathys asks to try the machine, but never comes back.

Standing in the box, the defendant tries to justify himself: “I do not know why I did this,” he repeats, visibly moved, his eyes turned to his mother and his stepfather.

The very morning of this second flight, he is already in court, before the judge of application of the penalties (JAP), in an attempt to obtain a planning of an earlier sentence. A coincidence that does not escape the jurisdiction. “Completely immature behavior,” said her lawyer, Me Charlotte Cambon.

Mathys explains wanting to launch a company of decorative objects in epoxy resin with his stepfather, but claims to miss means. To the question of the judge on her job search, the young man answers, resigned: “It’s complicated …”.

The prosecution remains inflexible. The public prosecutor’s magistrate requires 12 months’ imprisonment, including 6 suspended probationary, accompanied by the revocation of a previous 6 -month stay. She also requests keeping in detention. She underlines the grime immaturity of a boy who replayed his faults barely five months after an already substantial sentence.

A defense that pleads psychiatric disorder

In defense, Me Cambon recalls the complex medical and family journey of his client. Diagnosed with a deficit disorder of severe attention from adolescence, Mathys, then minor, could not be placed in a specialized structure, for lack of an adapted solution. “He needs psychiatric follow -up, no prison,” pleads the lawyer.

The court, sensitive to the defense arguments, finally pronounces a conviction to 8 months in prison without a warrant. Mathys will serve his sentence under electronic bracelet. “In a week, you will be placed under home surveillance. You will not be entitled to error,” warns him the president of the court.
