The Desert Dew group, composed of Timothée (song and bass), Ilan (guitar), Damien (guitar) and Loïc (drums), will be playing the Lightning Fest in Castelnaudary on July 18 and 19. Meet these enthusiasts with an unclassifiable style.
Who hides behind Desert Dew?
Timothy: It is a story that is both old and recent. Desert Dew is the project that I launched everything kid, in my room, when I started music. Over the meetings, it has evolved to become a real group. Basically, we were in Limoges. We released an EP, a first album… Then I moved to Toulouse, and there, I found the current training. We released a second album, which is an evolution of the first. And today, our goal is clear: we want to live from our music, and defend this album thoroughly.
How do you define your musical style?
Frankly, we still struggle to find a label. The simplest is to say alternative rock. But we have very varied pieces, with pop, rock touches … We have not yet found a group that looks perfectly like us. So yes, for the moment, we are a bit unclassifiable.

Where do your influences come from?
Coldplay, Radiohead, Foo Fighters… all this rock from the late 90s, early 2000. I love their arrangements, and I try to inspire it in my compos.
Why this name, Desert Dew?
I wanted something that evokes rarity. Something you can’t find everywhere. And I said to myself: what could be rarer than dew in the desert? Well, after I discovered that it is rather a common phenomenon (Laughs)but I liked the idea. That’s how it came.
You soon participate in the Lightning Fest. I imagine you are very happy …
It is a real honor, literally. We are super happy. We hope it will be a big evening, and we will give everything.

Have you had the opportunity to participate in other festivals?
Yes, last October we were in Donneville for an overflow, the first edition. And if not, we do concerts everywhere: at Chorus in Toulouse, in Bascalat in Bruguières. We even went back to Limoges for a concert, or in Creuse. We make sure to export to the Toulouse region as much as possible.
Is there a song that is a hit more than the others?
Yes, “Tonight”. It’s in our latest album. On stage, she has crazy energy, which directly embeds the public. And we love to play it. It’s a bit like our hymn, so obviously, we will play it at the Lightning Fest. Without it, it is not a real concert for us!
Are you working on a new album?
Not for the moment. But we prepare two clips: “Inner Child”, the eponymous title of the album, and “Tonight”. The first should be released in a short time, and the other arrives soon.
