Actor Gérard Depardieu, implicated in several cases of sexual violence, is filming in Portugal under the direction of his friend actress Fanny Ardant, AFP learned from production on Friday.
The fallen star of French cinema will know on May 13 the decision of the Paris Criminal Court, which judged him in March for sexual assaults which he disputes and which would have been committed on the set of “green shutters” (2022). Eighteen months suspended prison sentence was required against him.
Since December 2020, he has also been indicted following the rape complaint filed by the actress Charlotte Arnould, almost fifty years younger. The actor also rejects these accusations there.
The shooting in which the former sacred monster of French cinema participates, aged 76, began in April on the island of Sao Miguel, the largest in the Archipelago of Azores, and must end next week, producer Ana Pinhao Moura told AFP, confirming information from the weekly here.
“It is a 100% Portuguese production,” she said. “It is a love story around two women who are on a mysterious island”.
-Fanny Ardant, who signs the scenario and the realization, had testified in favor of Gérard Depardieu during his trial in the case of “green shutters”.
“I am a woman myself, I experienced things like that, I swung slaps, insults. I know that we can say no to Gérard,” said the actress, defending her “lifelong friend”.
In the film she directed, Gérard Depardieu embodies “the island’s magician, a mysterious figure that makes the link between the other characters,” said Ana Pinhao Moura.
