Ugo Coussaud: “It feels good to win a tournament with this game”

Ugo Coussaud has won its first title for more than two years. A success that validates a solid start to the season on the DP World Tour.

Golf Planet: Are you champion of France, do we imagine you happy?

Ugo Coussaud : Yeah, downright. As I said at the start of the week, it’s a title and a title that makes me very happy. There is a pack of very big names on the trophy, so I’m happy to add mine.

GP: How did you manage this last round?

U.C. : I had a small safety mattress. I made a good start of the game, I was able to really get a little advance. The route is always defended, it’s hard to do the Birdies. So I knew that doing a lot of pars, it would be complicated for my pursuers to catch up with me. I had the main hunters in the game so I could see where they were. They were nice to me, they did not put me too much under pressure (laughs). It was still hard today, I’m happy to have made a new good card under par.

GP: Write down against French friends, does that have an all the more special flavor?

U.C. : Exactly. It is very cool to find lots of heads that we have not seen for a long time. It’s a great event, you have to thank the organizers, the FFGOLF, the Golf, the Sponsors and Bernard Pascassio which makes it a point of honor to have this tournament. It feels good to end up with all the pros, young people who are starting, amateurs too, it allows to have a good idea of ​​French golf. And I find that it is doing pretty well.

I hope to find myself in a position in a few Sundays to come

GP: You came to test your game before returning to the DP World Tour. What assessment do you make of it?

U.C. : It is very good. There was a pack of good things, I also put my finger on a few small details that I have to improve. But I’m very happy with my game this week.

GP: This success also crosses a good start to the season on the DP World Tour…

U.C. : I am very happy with my start to the season which is very solid. There have been a lot of Tops 20 and Tops 25. I haven’t had a big weeks yet but there were two tournaments that stopped after three laps. Like my game this week, I take a lot of fairways and greens, it continues it is good to win a tournament with this game.

GP: It’s your first success for more than two years. Is it a title that calls others?

U.C. : Yeah, I hope! I hope to find myself in a position in a few Sundays to come and we will see how it goes. Back to back, it exists (laughs).
