Sauber is not yet at the limit with his C45

-

Since the great performance of Melbourne, with a 7th place, the situation is a little more difficult for Sauber. F1.

Nico Hülkenberg was invited to evoke the performance of the C45 in Miami. Have we ever seen the limits of the car, knowing that the team focuses on 2026 and its transition to Audi F1?

“I hope not and I hope we can push them back over the season!” replies German.

“Yes, it’s true, the last two races were difficult. On certain circuits, we were a little more competitive than others. I think in particular of Djeddah. I have the impression that we did not use our full qualifications and that we were simply not competitive enough in the race.”

“As I said, I think it depends on the circuit a little and, anyway, in the middle of a peloton, it’s so tight that you have to be perfect every time to get something significant. So yes, this is where we are. I think we are aware that we are still a lot of work, but we are not so far either.”

What type of circuit is suitable for C45? Quick circuits?

“Not necessarily. I wouldn’t say that. From what we have seen so far, perhaps a little more at low and medium speed, which is obviously a little more the characteristic of Miami. But yes, we will see, and you know, temperatures and conditions always play a role.”

The team is therefore preparing for the arrival of Audi next year. What does he want from Sauber by the end of the season?

“I think that it is very important to continue this momentum this year. Everything we are now counting next year. Of course, the regulations are different, but we have to move forward in parallel. I am sure that it is what everyone is doing, especially the big teams. But I still want to see progress this year and we want to score more points. The year is long, we are still quite early in the season.”
