How does Formula 1 ranking work?

The points on a Grand Prix are distributed as follows:

1e : 25 points
2e : 18 points
3E: 15 Points
4E: 12 Points
5e : 10 points
6E: 8 Points
7e : 6 points
8e : 4 points
9E: 2 Points
10e : 1 point

Special cases to remember:

-

If the pilots cannot browse the entire distance from a Grand Prix, in particular due to the weather conditions, the point allocation system is adjusted accordingly.

– If less than two complete towers are carried out without intervention by the Safety Car or the Virtual Safety Car, no point is assigned.
– Between 2 laps and 25% of the planned distance, only the first five score points: 6 for the winner, 4 for the second, 3 for the third, 2 for the fourth and 1 for the fifth.
– If the race covers between 25% and 50% of the expected distance, the first 10 receive points: 13 for the winner, then 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 2 and 1.
– When the distance traveled is between 50% and 75% of the initially planned race, the winner pockets 19 points, followed by 14, 12, 9, 8, 6, 5, 3, 2 and 1 for the following.
– Finally, beyond 75% of the covered distance, the usual points grid applies, ranging from 25 to 1 point.

How many points are distributed on a sprint race?

Sprint races, limited to 100 kilometers, a third of the distance from a Grand Prix, apply a reduced scale of points. Only the first eight to cross the finish line benefit from it.

1e : 8 points
2e : 7 points
3E: 6 Points
4E: 5 Points
5e : 4 points
6E: 3 Points
7e : 2 points
8e : 1 point
