[Cyclisme] Kess has not moved away from success

-

Second in the Tour de Bretagne, the Luxembourgish of the Lotto-Kern Haus team has spent a course this season.

Alexandre Kess (21) kept a calm voice on Thursday evening and a thoughtful speech. Listening to him, we would not have imagined that he had just finished second in the prestigious Tour de Bretagne sponsored by Bernard Hinault. We could not imagine that he had tried to make the skin of the leader and finally winner of the race, the Norwegian Felix Orn-Kristoff. However, the runner of the Belgian team Wanty-Nippo-Ruz, had only saved his jersey with the collective relentlessness of his teammates.

With the young Frenchman Aubin Sparfel, another sacred talent in the making, Alexandre Kess had united his forces in despair, playing everything for the whole in this last step drawn in the Côtes-d’Armor, between Landébia and Plancoët. The company, a putsch, could very well have succeeded, but that was to count without the inertia of those who accompanied this initiative. Finally, Alexandre Kess was forced to get into the rank and he “died” at thirteen seconds from the final winner.

“Too bad that it was not heard with other runners. When Felix Orn-Kristoff returned to us, he immediately attacked us, ”explains Alexandre Kess.

“I worked well this winter”

“It’s really good, I’m very happy,” confesses the Luxembourg runner who has long believed he could impose himself. “After the 4the STEP, I found myself eleven seconds from the leader, and everything was possible. Same in the last step, if we had heard, it could have done it, “said the Luxembourg runner.

No need to analyze his results at length to understand that Alexander Kess has progressed a lot in recent months. “At the start of the season, I was not far from a podium on Olympia’s Tour. It was the goal of being in good shape from the start of the season. I worked well this winter according to my trainer’s plans, Michel Wolter. And with the team, we drive really well together. We give ourselves possibilities to seek results. Without the team, this would not have been possible to finish second in this Tour de Bretagne … “

He thus thinks of all his teammates, “who sacrificed themselves to control the race”, including his compatriot Mil Morang. “There is a good atmosphere in the team. On each race, we give ourselves possibilities to go out in a group, which then allows you to play the general classification. It could very well have been someone else in my place. ”

Building on these good results on the Tour de Bretagne with a “hilly and hard” steps profile which suited him “perfectly”, and “allowing to establish a tactic”, he will now align himself with Gand-Wevelgem Hopes at the end of next week. “We will have to see how I digest everything I have done in recent weeks,” he warns. The trials of the Cup of Hopes Nations, the Orlen Nations Grand Prix, then the peace race, appear on its provisional program. We have probably not finished finding him on the front of the attack.
