Robert Charlebois famous 60 years of career in symphony in Quebec

At 80, Robert Charlebois has lost none of his passion. And the living legend of Quebec song is offered a gift as big as his work: two symphonic concerts presented on May 2 and 3 at the Grand Théâtre de Québec, in the company of the Quebec Symphony Orchestra (OSQ).

“There are more people on stage with me that I had in the room at the start of my career,” he said, laughing. And yet, this ambitious project is far from a simple retrospective.

Mr. Charlebois wanted to offer an entirely symphonic musical experience, without electric guitar, without low, without battery, to highlight the richness of his compositions.

“As soon as the classic musicians see an amp, they make the baboune!” he jokes.

Result: a powerful spectacle, but also all in nuances, with 66 musicians and choristers.

The repertoire was carefully chosen.

Essentials like Ordinary et I will come back to Montrealof course, but also pieces rarely played on stage.
