The Romanians are called to the polls this Sunday, May 4 to elect their next president.
George Simion, candidate of the extreme right, is given favorite in the polls.
This 38 -year -old man, a sovereignist and close to Trump, is also fiercely opposed to Putin.
Romanian voters are again called upon to vote for their next president on Sunday, May 4. After the historical exclusion of the candidate supported by Elon Musk and the Kremlin, Calin Georgescu, it is another candidate of the extreme right who is given favorite in the polls: George Simion, 38 years old. This sovereignist qualifies himself as “Trumpist” and dreams of being a “President Maga”.
In line with his nationalist position, this former ultra ultra of the national football team critically criticizes Brussels, while remaining pro-Europe: “We are not against the European Union, we Romanians. We want to be part of the EU, but not from the European Union of Brussels, the corrupt bureaucracy, but a Europe of the nations”he said during the campaign.
However, George Simion remains pro-opposite and fiercely opposed to Vladimir Putin, whom he described as “War criminal”. So, “There is no great fear that it arouses the ire of the EU and NATO”notes Guillaume Auda, Grand Reporter, on the LCI set. “He is more like a Orban in the European Union”, he sums up.
