Feminists at the rescue of wokism. The premises of the University Presses of France (PUF) were targeted this Thursday, May 1, the day after the publication of the collective book Faced with obscurantism Woke. As the journalist of the Figaro Alexandre Devecchio, posters at the slogan “Feminists against fascist propaganda” were glued to the storefront of the publishing house located in Paris. A militant gesture which intervenes in a climate of strong tensions around the publication of this work, led by academics Emmanuelle Hénin, Pierre Vermeren and Xavier-Laurent Salvador, and signed by 26 contributors from the academic world.
Faced with obscurantism Woke intends to document, according to its authors, the extension of a militant discourse in research, the media or even public policies. Announced at first for early April, the book had been suspended by PUF under pressure from part of the left intelligentsia.
