The GAB returned empty -handed from its trip this Saturday in the suburbs of Nantes. And yet: “we make a great start to the match,” says Adrien Ferrer, the Garonnais coach. Mathieu Auriol prints a very high rhythm on both sides of the field, alternating the outdoor game with a cane Corentin Lopez and the interior game by Adama Koné. The GAB takes control of the game by digging the gap. The address from afar is there by Albert and Jones and the premises cannot follow. The Rezéen coach takes advantage of the break to reorganize his troops which respond well.
Lauratet from afar and above all yellowin in all positions allow Rezé to return to height. The Gab stammered its basketball and fails to stop the opposing Vista. As the address with free throws is not good, the GAB has all the sorrows of the world to score points and finds itself led in all the compartments of the game. Over the last three minutes, visitors do not score and find themselves with a late 7-point delay (45-38).
Bankruptcy with free throws
The recovery is of the same ilk, the GAB seeking the means of coming back in the blow and the solution comes as often from Corentin Lopez which finds shots from afar, but also from the Garonnaise defense which stops the opposing inclinations several times. The Momentum is Garonnais, the wingers find the sights, Pompilius and Noël-Pierre encrust in the racket and the gap melt quickly. But Rezé does not sink, far from it, and manages to limit the damage. The scoring is par at ten minutes from the term and the GAB begins on the same success.
“At home we are very good, but outside we are not rigorous enough or disciplined enough on the little things”
But it is also the moment when Yahioui takes up the match on his own for the locals, causing mistakes, marking his throws, taking shots halfway and then from afar, which has the gift of relaunching his team. The Garonnais undergo opposing aggression, but still lack a few free throws which would have made it possible to return to the game. An unwelcome air hole that brings the defeat, despite the last assaults by Captain Auriol and Lucas Réal who will have tried everything until the end of the game.
Reaction
Adrien Ferrer (Garonne AB coach): “The truth of today is that at home we are very good, but that outside we are not quite rigorous or disciplined enough on the little things and it sums up our season a little. This Thursday (4:30 p.m.) on the mound, we have the cleaver match in the quarterfinals of the “South West” Super Cup against Saint-Médard-en-Jalles (N3, + 7) [NDLR : un remake de la dernière finale pour le double tenant du titre, alors qu’à 14 heures le BBM affrontera Tursan Basket Chalosse (R1, + 14), toujours au complexe Jean-Fenouillet de Meilhan-sur-Garonne]. To see if we are able to make a concentrated and disciplined match for forty minutes. »»
